The New American Community
註釋

This work proposes a new American economic Community as a response to the rise of the European Community and the increasing domination of the Asian market by Japan. The author develops a strategy and structure for such an American community--including North, Central, and South America--which would represent the largest economic market in the world. He proposes a massive free-trade zone including all of the Western Hemisphere, which would not only revitalize the economic position of the United States but would raise the standards of living of all nations in this hemisphere.

While enormous hurdles exist for the New American Community--for example, deep disparities in wealth, technological advancement, and democratic development--there are tremendous possibilities and positive signs. Here, Jerry Rosenberg lays out a workable structure, plan, and treaty for the Community, truly uniting all the Americas. His work will be of interest to scholars and policymakers in international economics, development economics, international finance and trade, and political science.
