Pressure Treatment Characteristics of 142 Commercially Important Timbers from the South-West Pacific Region
註釋This paper combines the results of a series of pressure treatment tests carried out with 142 commercially important timbers from Papua New Guinea, Fiji, and the British Solomon Islands Protectorate. Treatment was effected at standard pressure, 1378 kPa (200 lb/sq.in.), and at elevated pressure, 4134 kPa (600 lb/sq.in.), using creosote or a waterborne copper--chrome-arsenic (CCA) preservative. A new treatability classification was developed to permit detailed description of the wide range of penetration patterns obtained. The classification draws attention to the many problems encountered in determining the treatability of timbers from tropical areas.
