God expects his people to be a giving people, for he loves a cheerful giver. Generous giving in the local congregation allows the church not only to function (to pay the light bill and insurance and for cleaning supplies and the like), but generous giving allows the church to be a light in the world through assisting the struggling soul and sharing the gospel of Jesus.
