Penny is a puppy born to "Hond", a dog in an informal settlement of Cape Town. Hond moves the puppies to a cave for shelter. When summer comes and their water hole dries up, Penny leaves to explore the world, and is found by Brown Eyes, a homeless boy. When Brown Eyes is taken away by the police, Penny is rescued and hopes for a home of her own.
