John Whitney (ca.1592-1675) and his family immigrated in 1635 from England to Watertown, Massachusetts. Enoch Whitney (b.ca.1708) was a direct descendant in the fourth generation, and was a direct ancestor of the author. He married Thankful Parke in 1732 at Plainfield, Connecticut, and moved to Kent, Connecticut about 1750. Descendants and relatives lived in New England, New york, Pennsylvania, Texas and elsewhere.
