Thomas Mills (1720-1790), the immigrant ancestor, was born in Scotland and died in Dunbarton, Merrimack Co., New Hampshire where he had settled ca. 1751. Peter Mills (1801-1884) was born in Troy, Rennselaer Co., N.Y. to Samuel Mills of Dunbarton and Sally Stowell of Medfield, Suffolk Co., Mass. He was married (1) ca. 1826 in Pennsylvania to Lucina Terrel (ca. 1798-1845). They had seven children. He married (2) 1846 in Delaware Co., Ohio Huldah Sandvorn Tenney Kenaston (1818-1916). They had eight children. He died in Reynolds, Lee Co., Illinois. Family members and descendants live in Illinois, New York, Delaware, Ohio, Nebraska, Iowa, California and elsewhere.
