California in '41. Texas in '51
註釋Memoirs of Nicholas "Cheyenne" Dawson, one of the members of the first (1841) immigrant train over the Rockies to California. Dawson stayed in California until 1843, then returned East via Mexico and New Orleans. He made a second trip to California in March 1849, from Sherman, Texas, via El Paso, and the southern route to the gold fields at the Mariposa diggings, near Stockton, California. In 1851, he returned to his home in Arkansas through Panama, and finally settled permanently that year in Austin, Texas; see Graff Collection catalogue.
