Developing Multicultural Awareness Through Children's Literature
註釋Children develop their feelings toward other cultures and individuals largely through the ideas presented to them by parents and teachers. One good way is to show them respectable and accurately portrayed literary characters from many U.S. cultures.
Over 200 selections from children's literature, with plot and character synopses, feature Americans who can serve as role models in overcoming cultural stereotypes. Target activities (role playing, writing assignments, etc.) reinforce the multicultural concepts. The selections are divided into five areas: African American, Asian American, European American, Latino American, and Native American.
