註釋Throughout his career, Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza has candidly written down his private thoughts on the complexities and artistic doubts which permeate contemporary architectural practice. Here, presented for the first time, is a comprehensive selection of Siza's most significant texts, many of them previously unpublished. Organized thematically and accompanied by explanatory sketches, his writings lucidly evoke his aesthetic values and the simplicity and purity of his architecture.

Antonio Angelillo is Editor of Casabella, and has written many articles on Portuguese architecture. Since 1988 he has collaborated with the Siza studio, on the reconstruction of Lisbon's historical centre.
