Since 1979 it has been government policy that, before a national park reservecan be established in the territories, an assessment of its non-renewableresource potential is required. Environment Canada, Parks has identified alarge area of interest on North Baffin Island and the offshore waters, theboundaries to be determined later, based on mineral potential and a range ofother considerations. This report includes a geological compilation of thearea, a hydrocarbon and mineral distribution map, a summary of known hydrocarbon and mineral occurances and an assessment of the potential occurance of other deposits.
