During the "Kristallnacht" pogrom the synagogue was damaged and nine Jews were arrested and imprisoned in Dachau. Between 1933-38 at least 30 Jews emigrated. In July 1939 the remaining Jews were moved to "Jewish houses". In 1942 deportations began to Theresienstadt, Dachau, and Auschwitz; in 1943 Amberg was "judenfrei".
