Best Management Practices for the Control of Urban Storm Pollution Discharges
註釋The paper provides a review of recent advances in the application of urban stormwater pollution control procedures through "Best Management Practices" (BMP's) and defines not only possible best practice but also the range of feasible structural control options and optimal design criteria for achieving cost-effective runoff treatment. The control measures reviewed include detention basins (off-site approach) as well as infiltration and vegetative controls (on-site approach) such as grassed channels. Emphasis is given to pollutant removal mechanisms and efficiencies with regard to design and operational criteria. The possible use of such measures in the different climatic and socioeconomic conditions associated with Malaysia are also discussed. [Authors' abstract].
