Child Obesity
註釋Abstract: An authoritative reference text for practitioners treating child obesity focuses on behavior therapy and examines much of the literature pertinent to obesity among children. Following discussions of the negative energy equation leading to obesity risk, methods for measuring and detecting obesity, and studies concerning the epidemiology and natural history of childhood obesity, attention is focused on 3 principle stages of behavioral treatment. Following this, discussions are presented on obstacles to successful behavior modification in obese children. While principle attention is given to children between 5-12 years of age, therapeutic approaches (dieting, physical exercise, surgery, and behavior therapy) also are discussed and compared for adolescent obesity. The text concludes with a summation of current unanswered questions, future research needs, and conclusions. Reference tables (growth charts, RDA's, caloric values in foods, triceps skinfold percentiles, etc.) and a detailed bibliography are presented in 7 appendices.
