Opening a Wine Pub in Ireland
註釋This thesis is a business plan on opening a Wine Pub in Ireland. I had the idea of bringing Italian wine to Ireland in April 2014, when I realized, during a dinner with friends in a Dublin restaurant, that the restaurant had little choice of wine. Back in Ireland a few months later, I met Maria Theresa Adams, who will become my partner in this project. What I noticed when I got in close contact with Irish people is the existence of a cultural barrier to wine. The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate that I can break down this barrier by creating a Pub, a typical Irish place, which serves wine through a bulk wine tapping system, all accompanied by live music entertainment.Despite the existence of a cultural barrier, according to a Wine Monitor survey, wine consumption in Ireland has increased by 150% in the past 15 years. Although Ireland has a difficult economy, this growth in wine consumption is an opportunity to be exploited. The opening of the Wine Pub will take place in Cork, a city with 123,000 inhabitants and my partner's residence. My academic knowledge combined with the long experience of my partner are the perfect formula to win the challenge and delight the Irish people with Italian wine.A market investigation conducted by myself in the streets of Cork made me identify the target customer. Some Cork pubs are a source of inspiration for the creation of the Wine Pub. My competitive advantage will be to be able to offer a better service than that offered by competitors. Located in the city center, the Wine Pub will have a mix of Irish and Italian features. A good marketing plan will accompany the activity of the Wine Pub.The tapping systems, made by some Italian companies, will draw bulk wine from the Bag in Box. I will take care of strategic management, relations with suppliers and administrative aspects, while my partner will manage the staff and the operational part. The economic and financial plan shows a ROI of 4.97% from the first year of activity, even if the income statement records a loss due to financial charges. Over the next two years, the income statement will show an increasing operating profit. Among the various types of companies provided for by Irish law, the one that best suits this type of activity is the limited company LTD. If this business model is successful in Cork, there will be other openings in major Irish cities in the following years.
