註釋
Many studies assessing the planning and implementation of light rail systems have been carried out for the Greater Copenhagen Area. However, the majority of these papers analyze and evaluate the benefits of introducing one unique line into the public transportation system obtaining in the majority of cases negative annual benefits and economically nonprofitable projects. This thesis assesses the positive impacts of treating groups of light rail lines as pooled networks in the light of the analysis of the main indicators measuring the benefits obtained for these systems. A first evaluation of seven individual lines is carried out trying to create the most suitable planning strategy in order to maximize its benefits. The seven lines are completely planned from the first phases but correspond to the most studied corridors in the Greater Copenhagen Area. The second phase consists on the evaluation of five case studies corresponding to pooled networks created from different combinations of the before mentioned individual lines. The output data of each study results from the route choice calculations carried out with the help of a geographical information system software and an extension to this software especially created for this purpose. The thesis concludes with an evaluation and comparison of the results obtained for the case studies and the individual lines and lists the main findings concerning the benefits of treating systems as pooled networks. Furthermore, not only the socio-economical benefits are taken into account but also benefits in the planning phases and strategic impacts which are not economically quantifiable are considered.
