This article presents various botanical disciplines that can contribute to the recognition of palaeoeconomic and palaeocologic conditions within a certain archaeological environment and time. A short historical review of palaeobotanical investigations in Slovenia is also rendered. By way of example, select palaeobotanical investigations providing archaeologically significant results are also concisely summarized.
