Excerpt from Annual Report of the Surgeon General of the Public Health Service of the United States: For the Fiscal Year 1930 Tularaemia is much more widespread than it was supposed to be when the disease was discovered. The reports are not complete, but in 1929 there were 461 cases and 36 deaths reported to the Public Health Service.
