Hyaluronic Acid Peptide Mediated Control of ECM Assembly to Prevent Fibrotic Capsule Formation
註釋Hyaluronic acid has been found to have a role in extracellular matrix regulation, specifically collagen fibril formation. Devising a method to increase hyaluronic acid during wound healing around implants could contribute to a reduction in fibrotic capsule formation around implants. Previous studies have indicated that hyaluronic acid binding peptide is capable of binding to hyaluronic acid in in vitro and in vivo studies. As such, the aim of this research is to evaluate whether silica glass surfaces can be functionalized with hyaluronic acid binding peptide to attract hyaluronic acid during extracellular matrix deposition and therefore regulate and reduce fibrotic capsule formation. This research will further translate into improvement of biocompatibility of soft implants such as silicone implants through the reduction of fibrotic capsule formation. Future experiments will continue to validate this approach and include in vivo experiments
