Conceptual Feasibility Study for Centralized Treatment of Petroleum Contaminated Soil
註釋The feasibility of a permanent or semi-permanent soil treatment facility for petroleum contaminated soil generated by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) five year highway improvement plan and underground storage tank (UST) upgrade and replacement project was assessed in a documented study. With the soil removed by these projects expected to approach 170,000 cubic yards, three options were considered for its treatment: A centralized biological land treatment facility, a centralized low temperature thermal desorption (LTTD) unit including soil recycling facilities, and a mobile LTTD unit. Due to the shortage of public land in the northern part of the state and the relatively small amount of soil to be generated per year, the recommendation is to establish a soil recycling facility there. The use of state prison land for biological treatment is recommended for the southern part of the state.
