The guide content applies to most spatial planning situations that are likely to arise, including planning for environmental conservation and economic development of Crown land resources. Examples of good construction of objectives & strategies are provided throughout to illustrate the guidelines. Chapter 1 reviews the tools available to planners to communicate a plan's intent. Chapter 2 describes three guidelines that relate to the planning hierarchy, internal consistency, and achievability. Guidelines in chapter 3 focus on using the appropriate tools for expressing resource management direction. The last chapter has six guidelines for ensuring that objectives & strategies are communicated effectively. Appendices include a glossary, an overview of the provincial Crown land planning system, a checklist of key points embodied in the guidelines, and a summary of common plan-writing problems & suggested solutions.
