The collection comprises two letters from the Australian historian Geoffrey Blainey to fellow historian Craig Wilcox. The first letter dated 19 August 2001, contains Blainey's review of Wilcox's manuscript for 'Australia's Boer War: The War in South Africa 1899-1902' published in 2003, that includes his analysis and rationale behind the suggested edits, along with further research. In the second letter dated 30 November 2002, Blainey suggests that Wilcox should consider writing a book about the history of tropical Australia for a general audience and outlines in detail the themes to be considered.
