John H. Hall was a student of Professor Dorothy Johansen at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. He submitted a lengthy paper on Oregon pioneer John Minto for the class Northwest History 341, January 13, 1964. The Hall collection includes: preface written in 1964 on John Minto by John H. Hall; notes, sketches, manuscripts by and about Minto; hand written copies from John Minto, 1892-1893, copied by Minto's niece; typescript copies of Minto's writing on life in Oregon, leaders of 1843-1844, Cayuse War, Tillamook Indians, and use of forest resources; and two typescripts of John Minto's autobiography, compiled by John Hall. Also includes a paper titled "Preliminary study of the land use observations of John Minto," by Dorothy D. Hirsch, Portland State University, May 1973
