Not Mad, Bad Or Young Enough
註釋Growing numbers of homeless young people have mental health problems or other serious difficulties, in addition to their need for stable, good quality housing. This has led to increased pressure on homelessness services and advice agencies, which may have originally been set up to deal with much lower levels of need. Previous research indicates that many of the young homeless people concerned have little or no contact with statutory mental health or social care services.Looking at three projects with different approaches to tackling this issue, this report:examines what each project has achieved in terms of raising awareness of the issues, addressing needs and development of services;highlights the issues for service providers, both mainstream and specialist, and provides the ingredients for effective development of services, including the role of collaboration between agencies;examines the respective roles of the voluntary and statutory agencies involved, including health (and mental health services), social services and housing;makes recommendations to potential service providers and funders regarding the future development of services and other ways of addressing issues.·[vbTab]Not mad, bad or young enough should be read by all those concerned with housing people with mental health problems.
