註釋Mercer (Messer) Norton (ca. 1750-ca. 1800) moved from Fairfax (later Loudon) County, Virginia to Randolph County, North Carolina, married Martha Higgins, moving in 1790 to Burke County, North Carolina, and later to Wayne County, Kentucky. Descendants lived in North Carolina, Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas, Texas, Arizona, Utah, California and elsewhere.
