The collected Polish mathematician Karol Borsuk. His main interest was topology. Borsuk introduced the theory of absolute retracts (ARs) and absolute neighborhood retracts (ANRs), and the cohomotopy groups, later called Borsuk-Spanier cohomotopy groups. He also founded shape theory.
