The young and talented architect, Jennifer Townley, accepts an assignment in St. Louis, Missouri, to join one of their newest renovation projects, giving her an opportunity to embark on new experiences in the vocation she loves.

Her move to the Midwest from her upscale Miami Beach condo becomes a major challenge and lifestyle. She eschews city life, choosing instead to move across the river to the quaint town of New Haden.

She has no idea upon arriving in New Haden, she is being watched, or that previous tenants of her apartment have mysteriously disappeared. The town's charm quickly erodes, as some residents turn out far different than they first appeared, from her elderly landlady, Bea Brighton, to the town's police chief, Max Shephard. Searching for answers, she forms an alliance with her handsome, mysterious neighbor, Mark, who, like the others, has much to hide.
