註釋Each year Divisions of General Practice staff spend a considerable amount of time and energy completing the Annual Survey of Divisions (ASD), the comprehensive survey administered by PHCRIS under contract from the Dept of Health and Ageing. When PHCRIS reviewed the Annual Survey in 2001, Divisions indicated they had not used the published results to any great extent, and were unaware of policy makers or researchers' use of the results.

To improve Divisions' perceptions of the value of the ASD, PHCRIS provided all Divisions with confidential individual feedback of their own responses to selected questions, compared with grouped responses from other similar Divisions categorised according to rural status, size of population and estimated number of GPs in the catchment area. PHCRISS aimed to communicate Divisional data back to Divisions in order to inform Divisions of the results of their contributions to make their effort of completing the ASD more worthwhile, increase the usefulness of the data to Divisions, improve the accuracy of the data in the ASD and assist Divisions to compare themselves with "Divisions that are like us".
