Friction of Surface Films Formed by Decomposition of Common Lubricants of Several Types
註釋In all cases, decomposition films caused marked reductions in friction, frequently approaching values obtained with better fluid (boundary) lubricants. Combination of a thin fluid film of a silicone polymer on its decomposition film produced unusually low values in friction and greatly increased load capacity. Such films probably function as thin solid films of low shear strength rather than as highly viscous fluid films.
