註釋This plan is Canada's reply to the Bruntlandt Report. It explains how Canada will manage the economy and the environment to attain sustainable development. The plan was developed through an extensive, national consultation process which began in March 1990 with the release of a background paper and continued with consultations between the federal government and people of all backgrounds. This document is the result of that process and covers principles for environmental action; the health and environment action plan; action to protect air and water; sustaining renewable resources; protecting unique ecosystems; action on global warming; division of responsibilities among the various players, including governments, industry, native peoples, consumers, and non-governmental organizations; federal government actions; and emergency responses to marine and non-marine spills.
