A Wild Journey with Our Grandfather Alexander Grant
註釋"This is the extraordinary story of our grandfather, Rev. Alexander Grant. Alex was born in Redding, Scotland in 1879, one of seven children. His earliest career was as an iron moulder and reservist in the British Army. He fought for 21⁄2 years in the Boer War and spent 4 years in India where he 'found God'. He trained in the Presbyterian Church to become both a missionary in Northern Ontario and an ordained minister. It was in Winnipeg that he married our grandmother, Nettie Beatrice Miller, and they had three children. He felt compelled, at the age of 35, to enlist in the Canadian army and to fight in the Great European War. After 8 months in the horrors of trench warfare in Northern France, he returned to Canada a broken man. He struggled to return to his former life but no longer believed in God. He could not cope with family life and spent his remaining days on and off the streets and in mental hospitals in Quebec, Ontario and New York State. Alex died in 1942 and is buried in the Hawthorndale Cemetery, 15005 Rue Sherbrooke East, Point aux Trembles, Montreal."--
