The House of Mystery
註釋The House of Mystery: An Episode in the Career of Rosalie Le Grange Clairvoyant was written in 1910 by William Irwin. Irwin (1873 1948) was an American writer and journalist. In 1904 he published a collection of poetry entitled The Hamadryads. An excerpt from this classic thriller, The House of Mystery, "You love me. You have always loved me," she said. "In spite of everything, you will marry me! You will say it before you are done with me!" He stopped suddenly, for her eyelids were drooping. He spoke without thinking: "I love you. I have always loved you. In spite of everything, I shall marry you." Her eyes opened and she flashed a little away from him. She had risen. They were walking side by side now. "The Guides will tell me," she answered simply. "Perhaps the Guides already know," she said, smiling but quivering, too. "Perhaps they're going to make it easier for me."
