There are references to Shays' Rebellion (e.g., reports of deaths among the "mob" in Springfield, Mass., and troop movements), as well as references to his preachings, visits among his parishioners and to neighboring towns. All entries record weather patterns, and several refer to pulpit exchanges, his attendance at funerals, parish and town meetings, and meetings of the Worcester Association of Ministers.
