註釋Surveys the history of the Frankfurt School, originally established as an institute for sociological research in Germany in 1924. Its members emigrated after 1933 and continued their activities under the auspices of Columbia University. Pp. 390-478 describe the "Anti-Semitism Project", which proposed to formulate a scientific approach to antisemitism, emphasizing psychology and psychoanalysis. Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorno, heads of the project, intended to provide scientific proof that antisemitism is a symptom of deep hostility toward democracy.
