This thesis provides algorithms that constitute a toolkit to efficiently compute in the degree zero Picard group of algebraic curves of large genus over a field k. To the author's knowledge, these algorithms are the first algorithms ever to implement the arithmetic in Picard groups for reducible and singular curves.
