註釋Total lead emissions into the atmosphere is 1978 were estimated at 14 534 tonnes. The largest contributor was, as in the 1970 inventory, the gasoline-powered motor vehicle for on-road uses, which accounted for 63.0% of the total. However the magnitude of lead emissions form this sector has declined since 1970 (form 12780 tonnes to 9 154 tonnes) as a result othe increased use of lead-free gasoline and the implementation of regulation of fuel additives in gasoline by Envisonment Canada. Production of primary copper and nickel accounted for 16.0%, and mining, milling and contrating of lead-bearing ores for a further of 6.6% of the lead emissions in 1978.
