An Outdoor Lover's Knapsack
註釋Dr. Thomas J. Rillo has been involved in outdoor environmental education for over 70 years. Forty-six years in a professional career and twenty-four years in retirement. His first encounter with outdoor education was with Life Camps where as a ten year-old he attended this on a scholarship. The camp was operated on a decentralized plan where direct experience in outdoor living was the main focus. His fifth grade teacher was a former participant in National Camp, directed by Dr. Lloyd B. Sharp, a pioneer in outdoor education. She took her fifth grade students out of doors for extended learning. Dr. Rillo had a career in outdoor education and environmental education for many years. He taught countless students who went on to careers in the outdoor field. His poetry in this book comes from his own experience, drawing on both personal and professional involvement. He is well qualified to convey these experiences in poetic format. The book is intended to be read as a companion to outdoor excursions, as well as for enjoyment around a cozy fireplace at home.
