註釋
This is not the British Winston Churchill. This Winston Churchill is an American novelist born in St Louis, Missouri in 1871. Both Churchills communicated with each other and because the American Churchill was the first to publish, Sir Winston Churchill published his works under the name Winston S Churchill. The American Churchill was an officer in the U S Navy. He also was a novelist, essayist, and poet. His novels written in a naturalist style often expressed his political views. Dwelling Place of Light touches on such topics as the rights of workers, the role of unions, females as victims at the hands of powerful men, pre-marital sex, and abortion. Janet Bumpus is secretary to Claude Ditmar, an agent for the Chippering Mills. Ditmar falls in love with Janet and seduces her. Janet begins to see him for who is really is and sides with the workers. Janet has another relationship and discovers she is pregnant.
