註釋
High-strength spot welds, free from cracks, explusion, and excessive sheet separation in 0.064-inch material were obtained with 4-inch spherical radius electrode tips over a wide range in welding current for optimum conditions. With the same tip contour for optimum conditions, high quality welds were obtained over a narrower current range of o.081-inch material. Tests of this thickness with 6-inch radius domes to produce stronger, good quality welds were limited by the equipment. Spot welds in 0.102-inch material with 4-inch radius domes evidenced unsatisfactory cracking. Equipment limitations prevented use of larger dome tips which appeared necessary.
