Chroust, sketches the life of Dr. Friedrich Mennecke, SS-Hauptsturmführer and director of the Eichberg psychiatric hospital where he initiated euthanasia and medical experiments on patients. He was assigned to carry out selections in psychiatric hospitals throughout Germany and (as part of "Aktion 14f13") in the concentration camps. For his activities at Eichberg he was sentenced to death in the Nuremberg doctors' trials (1946-47) but died in prison. Includes letters from concentration camps.
