註釋
The Japanese have managed to shorten the performance time of Ludwig Van Beethoven's Fifth symphony, lasting 31 minutes, by 4 minutes and 15 seconds! We do not cease to wonder why? There is considerable irony in the fact that this very symphony transfers its motto "Eroica"- the ideal of an individual's heroism - onto the general plane, and evokes the victory of the humanity as a whole, which is why it is also called the Symphony of Fate. Beethoven described the opening, the well-known allegro con brio with the motif three quick G's and a long E-flat, by saying: "This is fate knocking on the door". The opening motif was not shortened. And how could it be? The overall acceleration and compression of all existing and living entities into an "optimal scale and measure", is one of the characteristics of modern time, which is - in the opinion of the majority - not questioned or placed in doubt. Mathematical algorithms of compression are living their social lives to the fullest. Everything is shortened (and denied), compressed and accelerated: the time of production; the time of sale; the time of shopping; work time; both capital and profit become concentrated; the time of thinking and speaking is compressed; the time of silence and stillness is shortened. "Every thought that requires more than one minute to develop, is excluded from TV news". Emotionality is accelerated to the point where it becomes absent and social activism is measured in hours. The sight, hearing and touch are accelerated. Even their interaction changes and speeds up. The man becomes accelerated to the point where he finally overpasses himself and scatters in a multitude of roles and identities - into everything and into nothing. Even the reasons for all the above mentioned processes are packed into only a few clear tendencies: universal-technological-information-profit, while their consequences (that move at the same speed but in opposite direction, their number multiplied and complexity increased), due to the overall mediatisation of life, pass into the zone of "invisible", therefore "unreal".Communication and its powers are living their mythological life. "Thinking is nothing: communication - this is the real thing! This attitude is the host to the worst possible misinformation accompanying democratic societies of today: it is not seen as the betrayal of intelligence, but the downfall of the thought itself, just as the Mandarins, becoming less and less respected, allowed the media demons to guide them". (F. Balle, 1991) The dream of invisible man has been fulfilled: "Communicating with others, and yet being invisible and inaudible". (M. Ferraris, 2011) Our deep, subjective Self in modern way of communication is hiding in the silence and invisibility of space, beneath the line of self-recognition. "Is it ultimately true that a man in communication society is led forward only by his concern to resemble his loved ones and close environment? Has he suddenly lost the ability to see himself as the guide of his own activities?" (F. Balle, 1991)
