Deutschlandbilder
註釋Analyzes German postwar (mostly avant-garde) films on the Nazi period and present-day Germany. Pp. 35-42 describe the impact of the American TV series "Holocaust" on the German public. Pp. 92-99 discuss Fassbinder's "Garbage, the City and Death" (also filmed) and his projected TV series based on Gustav Freytag's "Soll und Haben". Although Fassbinder's intention was to show that Jewish immorality is a result of society's mistreatment of Jews, his works abound in stereotypes likely to reinforce the prejudices of unsophisticated audiences. On pp. 194-202, criticizes Edgar Reitz's TV series "Heimat", conceived as the German answer to "Holocaust", for its trivialization of the Nazi period and almost complete disregard of Nazi atrocities.
