註釋This study is one of a series completed for the 1990 long-range transport of air pollutants (LRTAP) assessment in Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, NB, NS, PEI and Newfoundland. The report gives an overview of the SO2 reduction program and the framework within which the program is to be analyzed. The industrial impacts for smelter and sintering plant complexes and for electric utilities are then given, including the ability to control emissions, capital investments planned, operational effects, and corporate ability to finance emission controls. The report concludes with a discussion on future research directions.
