They say that a good lyric writer has a rare gift that can't be taught. Though many books are available on the subject, all are void in that area of expert advice or know how. They are familiar with some song writing aspects or stages. But any crucial details that would be informative to the beginner and experienced are out dated material. So, the need for new and updated teaching and guidance in that area must be considered. The area involving the lyric portion of song writing is still a mystery in the art. Instruction or technique relevant for making hit song lyrics found in popular music consistently add to a common frustration do to the high standard. Unfortunately, many good songs are not able to succeed due to mega hits that maintain their marketability. Who is it that is responsible for creating those lyrics found in popular songs that are still receiving air play on T.V. and radio stations from pop to country and rap music? It is kept secret. But, what I know I am putting in this book as documented for the first time ever! The secret in modern era hit songs. The reason why I know is because I was there when songs like Thinking out loud and Up Town Funk where being made from scratch. I can take you through the process. All you need is a pen and paper and a bit of imagination. If you have what it takes to write about things going on now, then you are ahead of the game. What it takes to be a songwriter is guts, the guts that come with rejection. It is like the prophet in his hometown, he is not believed. Though there is no bigger critic than the writer himself, there is also a joy that comes from engaging yourself with a truly rewarding experience. The spirit is captured and becomes captivated. There must be a sincere humbleness to afford any future in the arts. You must come down from the clouds so to speak, and open everything. There is a danger and a light, darkness and a journey. Who knows what is really on the other side if not a type of creative genius. Those who become successful writers are usually locked away pining among the pages of a lifetime. This is true of unsuccessful songwriters. They live among the clutter of a few too many notebooks and the growing pile of papers and even if there was a storehouse to file them all there is no containing them. The people who creep into your life may snag the appealing ones and you won't ever know. The world may never know unless there is a miracle and I mean nothing short of a miracle. That somehow your work is played on the radio is a miracle. Flattering yes. However long-lived is still an accomplishment. Can you attain the same height or soar above the rest? Will you ever get the credit deserved? Sadly, the answer is no. If that were to happen on any scale it would be triumphant. Can you imagine the seasoned writer who is just breaking out and becoming recognized for their sheer skill and the want and need for more not only the public the major influences along the 'Pop cultures' There would be envy and cult religions for and against? The world would want you to show them the way, at least provide a way for them. Maybe just show them a different way in a sea full of people in need of a change is all it takes. If you make them feel and they can relate and this is your job it would seem more like a humanitarian effort than the arts. So, in our modern day 'civilized' world, where the government has control over the masses it is likely they have control over such 'influences' as well. The musicians and the singers all are on the stage performing, but the writer is usually in a cave somewhere utterly alone in their head. It takes experience and dedication to let the world creep into your life and your work, because it becomes effected. The wise philosopher can positively gain insight from the intrusion. The interest alone should be suspect. Yes, these are what seem to be exaggerations, let them serve as warnings. It is a noble cau
