註釋The purpose of this work is to further progress toward the solution of the question of English teaching in the Southwestern area of this country, comprising the Spanish-speaking population of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and southern California. The Spanish-speaking of these areas, and their need for a command of English makes an urgent demand on American education. This report includes an examination of efforts made, investigates state programs and other syllabi prepared, and surveys textbooks with a view to determining their adequacy to the task.
