註釋
Passionet admirer of the glorious passt and national entity of the Serbian people, architect Korunovich was the most outstanding romantic constructor in the Serbian architecture between the two world wars. Being occupied with searching for the national style of construction relied upon Serbian - Byzantine tradition and form of the national construction, he acted beyond vanguard streams notwithstanding the principles of modern architectural movement. In the early thirties of the 20th century, when the modernists domnateds on the local scene of architecture, there was no room for the "anachronic" romantics such as Korunovich was. Being the leading person of the "Alexander" style in Serbian architecture between the two world wars, he left behind himself a rich construction opus, wide spread from Ljubljana to Bitola. Korunovich did not take architecture as a theme for an aesthetic and or scientific-technical analysis. He held construction as a glorious and holly matter. It was for him "an act of faith", an act of moral and spirit respecting the spirit of ancestors and creativelycontributing to the edeal of the "national revival". Being captivated by the national construction heritage of the passt, yet, Korunovich was not a dreamer, facing only one side. He used tradition as a spiritual backing to support his own building conceptions. Truly devoted to art, as much as to his orthodox religion, he could lounch himself above the average and anachronism. In surch for the corresponding style, Korunovich was not interested in repetition of traditional forms of the national and medieval architecture. As a true creator, who applied new materials and spacial systems, he tried to go further in combining the two styles and the two hystorycal epochs, to combine the middle and the twentieth centuries. Therefore, no one should be astonished that trough such controversial endeavours he "discovered" the specific alternative of the romantic expressionism as a synthesis of modern expressionism and Serbian medieval architecture. Value of the Korunovich's construction work is reflected in the tendency leading to integrity, in the idea of harizmatic role of the art in interconcetion of distant epochs of the national history and culture. As much as presence of the traditional spirit characterized Korunovich as a "retrograde" traditionalyst, occupied with distant historycal reminescences, so much, on the other hand, his liberal and vivid imagination joined with suggestive strenght reflected in his building, characterize Korunovich an artist of modern provinience.
