Recueil inédit offert au connétable de Montmorency en mars 1538
註釋This important manuscript by Clement Marot consists of one hundred and forty poems, which Marot presented to Anne de Montmorency, "Grand Master" and newly appointed "Constable of France," in March 1538. It is the only long manuscript by Marot and presents a coherent lyrical ensemble, divided into clearly defined sections. The work was meant to be read not only by an influential person, whose favors Marot sought to obtain, but also by the French Court at large, where the exiled poet hoped to regain a place in the sun. The manuscript offers a synchronic view of Marot's poetic production at a crucial time of his career rather than through the prism of later editorial rearrangements. This critical edition allows us to revisit the work of a great French poet at a pivotal time in the history of Renaissance literature."
