Schedules for the Preservation of Hem-fir Timber
註釋When timber lacking natural durability is used where it is liable to be attacked by wood-destroying organisms, effective preservation procedures are essential. Options for preservative treatment of softwood timber used in construction include the application of organic-solvent preservatives by double-vacuum processes. The limited choice of schedules available in current codes of practice for this type of treatment results in hem-fir receiving either poor or excessive treatment depending on the schedule selected. This paper presents the results achieved with alternative schedules tailored to meet the special requirements of hem-fir and makes recommendations for their use. Future implications of this work for the use of treated hem-fir in Europe are outlined. The paper will be of interest to timber treaters, specifiers and those in the construction industry.
