Alexander Berryhill (b.1661) immigrated from Scotland to London, and married Lady Jane Cartwright. Four of his sons (John, William, Samuel, Andrew) immigrated to Lancaster (later Dauphin) County, Pennsylvania near the present site of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and elsewhere.
