Imperial Imprints
註釋The city on the Neva has recently taken back its original name, St. Petersburg. The official strategies for the Tercentenary in 2003 saw the city's potential as being generated by its imperial past. In a series of scholarly essays the author examines the historical background to St. Petersburg's contemporary identifications. Framed mainly in romantic and nostalgic terms, they imprint an idealized Old Imperial Russia onto the post-Soviet city.
