The map-area, bounded by latitudes 57 degrees and 58 degrees N and longitudes 130 degrees and 132 degrees W includes parts of the Coast Mountains, Stikine Plateau and Hazelton Mountains. It lies across the axis of the northeasterly trending Stikine Arch, a lobe of crystalline and metamorphic rocks that remained relatively positive throughout most of the Mesozoic time.
